An explosion was heard in Kabul on Sunday, a China Media Group correspondent in the city has confirmed.
No casualties have been reported so far.
“The rocket struck Khwaja Bughra, a populated residential area in Police District 15, in the west of the Hamid Karzai International Airport roughly at 4:55 p.m. local time. Casualties are feared,” witness Ghulam Hazrat told Xinhua.
Images circulating on social media showed plumes of black smoke billowing above some buildings.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The blast came only days after a deadly explosion near the airport on Thursday left at least 170 people dead.
