ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan’s renowned javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, has resumed training for the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024 upon returning home from South Africa. Nadeem embarked on a journey to South Africa last month to receive training from esteemed javelin coach Terseus Liebenberg, undergoing an intensive five-week regimen at the North West University facility. Now back in Pakistan, the Commonwealth Games gold medalist is under the guidance of his local coach, Salman Butt, who is collaborating with Liebenberg to craft a comprehensive training plan encompassing gym sessions, strength training, and throwing practice. The objective is clear: to secure the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Nadeem’s achievements speak volumes; in addition to winning gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and securing silver at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest, he made history as the first Pakistani to medal at the World Athletics Championship. His stellar performance during the championship also earned him qualification for the Paris Olympics, surpassing the automatic qualifying benchmark with a remarkable 86.79-meter throw. Nadeem’s prowess was further demonstrated at the 34th National Games last year, where he clinched gold with a remarkable 78.02-meter throw, reaffirming his status as a top-tier athlete.
