ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approved the revised PC-I for the $6.7 billion ML-1 railway project, a key part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and forwarded it to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for final approval. The project, aimed at upgrading and doubling the 1733-kilometre railway track from Karachi to Peshawar, includes modern signaling, grade separation, fencing, and reducing travel times significantly. The Havelian Dry Port project is attached to ML-1, and other infrastructure projects worth Rs 82.2 billion were also approved. China has pledged full support for the ML-1 project, aiming for swift completion.
