ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Beijing ‘supports’ Bisham attack probe findings, China has expressed support for Pakistan’s investigation into the March 26 suicide attack on its engineers in Bisham, highlighting the importance of combating terrorism for the benefit of all nations. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s statement followed Pakistan’s attribution of the attack to the leadership of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and hostile foreign intelligence agencies, with a particular emphasis on Afghanistan.
While Pakistan urged Afghanistan to take action against terrorists operating from its territory, China’s response refrained from direct mention of Kabul. Instead, the spokesperson, Mao Ning, emphasized China’s appreciation for Pakistan’s progress in the investigation and reiterated support for efforts to apprehend and prosecute all perpetrators.
Both countries pledged to enhance security cooperation to safeguard Chinese personnel, projects, and institutions in Pakistan. Ms. Ning underscored terrorism as a common global threat and urged regional nations to intensify collaboration to eradicate it, emphasizing the importance of eliminating terrorist organizations and their support networks.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also demanded the arrest of specific individuals allegedly involved in the attack, including TTP leaders, emphasizing the need for cooperation from Afghanistan in addressing cross-border terrorism while expressing Pakistan’s desire for positive relations with its neighbor.
