Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid his respects at the funeral prayers for Captain Faraz Ilyas, who tragically lost his life in Lakki Marwat district. Alongside Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Punjab Police IG, and several senior military officers, civil authorities, relatives, and local residents, he joined in honoring the fallen soldier.
Captain Faraz, a 26-year-old from a village in Kasur district, was among the seven courageous Pakistan Army soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while bravely carrying out their duties. They were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack while traveling in a vehicle.
During the funeral, PM Shehbaz Sharif also met with the grieving parents of Captain Faraz, offering his heartfelt condolences. In tribute to the fallen officer, he announced the renaming of their native village to “Faraz Ilyas Shaheed” and pledged to develop it into a model village.
Assuring the bereaved family, the Prime Minister emphasized that the sacrifice of their son would not be forgotten and prayed for them to find strength in this difficult time.
Quoting Quranic teachings, he reiterated that a martyr holds a revered place in paradise. He further stated that numerous soldiers of the armed forces have laid down their lives for the nation, and their bravery is a source of pride for the entire nation.
In the face of cowardly terrorist acts, PM Shehbaz emphasized the unwavering determination and resilience of the Pakistani people, affirming that such acts cannot weaken their resolve.
