ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Under this measure, the Punjab government has imposed a ban on all public gatherings, rallies, processions, and protests throughout the province for the next 7 days. This decision comes amidst concerns over security and potential terrorist threats, as large gatherings could be vulnerable targets.
The section 144 directive will remain in effect until June 27th, with authorities committed to stringent enforcement to safeguard public safety.
Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted 180 Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) across various Punjab cities, resulting in the arrest of 15 terrorists. Among them was a wanted individual linked to the banned TTP group, trained in South Waziristan and apprehended in Mianwali.
Operations were also conducted in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Multan, and other cities, leading to the seizure of explosives, detonators, safety fuses, IED bombs, mobile phones, and cash.
According to CTD officials, these terrorists were planning attacks to instill fear and chaos.
Previously, four individuals involved in the killing of policemen were fatally shot during an encounter with law enforcement in Lahore.
