ISLAMABAD (PEN) : An official from the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports, who had been missing since May 30, was reportedly located on Saturday, according to sources
Assistant Director Mohammad Hayat Tarar, whose disappearance prompted his family to file a report and later a writ petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), voluntarily contacted the police himself. His brother, Sadaf Hussain, had taken legal action, alleging that Tarar was being unlawfully detained by passport authorities.
Following the court’s directive to register a case against the passport authorities, Tarar’s family withdrew their allegations after he came forward and informed them that he had chosen to absent himself for personal reasons.
Government sources have indicated that Tarar faces accusations of misconduct and corruption related to passport issuance, which led to his suspension from duty amidst ongoing investigations into the allegations against him.
