President Asif Ali Zardari is set to undertake a one-day visit to Sukkur today to preside over a meeting focused on the law and order situation in Sindh.
The meeting will be attended by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Sindh Home Minister, DG Rangers Sindh, as well as DIGs from Sukkur and Larkana, along with federal and provincial ministers.
A primary agenda of the meeting will be to receive briefings on the ongoing operations in the katcha areas conducted by the police and Rangers. These discussions are expected to lead to key decisions aimed at addressing the law and order challenges specifically in these remote and often difficult-to-access regions.
Earlier, during a meeting in May focused on Sindh’s law and order, President Zardari had instructed provincial authorities to launch extensive operations against various criminal elements. These included street criminals in Karachi, dacoits in the katcha areas, and drug traffickers across the province, emphasizing the need for coordination with other provinces in these efforts.
The upcoming session chaired by President Zardari underscores the government’s proactive approach to tackling security issues and ensuring public safety in Sindh, particularly in challenging areas like the katcha regions.
