Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi responded to questions about potential changes within the national cricket team following their disappointing performance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Speaking in London, Afridi expressed surprise when asked about a “major surgery” in the team, humorously asking if someone was ill and requesting to steer clear of political discussions.
“I don’t know about any potential changes in the team. Please keep me out of politics and ask cricket-related questions,” Afridi insisted.
Reflecting on India’s victory in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, Afridi praised both teams for their performance and acknowledged India as deserving winners. He emphasized the importance of handling pressure in big matches and noted that strong teams like India succeed after going through a rigorous process.
Regarding Pakistan’s early exit from the tournament, Afridi acknowledged the team’s need to address shortcomings. He mentioned that competing in World Cups requires a strong process and highlighted the importance of correcting mistakes through hard work to achieve better results in the future.
Pakistan faced setbacks in the T20 World Cup 2024, notably with unexpected losses to the USA and arch-rivals India, which contributed to their early elimination from the tournament.
