ISLAMABAD (PEN) : An accountability court granted pre-arrest bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, in a case involving £190 million. This decision follows a previous approval of bail for Imran Khan by a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court in May.
The case revolves around a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) inquiry concerning a settlement between the PTI government and a property tycoon, allegedly resulting in financial losses to the national treasury amounting to £190 million. Both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, along with other PTI leaders, are implicated in this inquiry.
Despite the bail approvals, the couple remains in custody due to a separate legal matter known as the iddat case. Their attempts to secure suspension of sentences in relation to this case were recently denied by a district and sessions court.
