ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Today in the Senate, Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar highlighted the Pakistan government’s initiative to promote electric vehicles (EVs) as part of environmental protection efforts and to reduce reliance on imported fuel. During Question Hour, he informed the House that Pakistan has imported thirty electric buses from China, which are now stationed at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad. State-of-the-art charging facilities have been set up there, with a soft launch of these buses scheduled for today.
Minister Tarar also shared that NADRA centers will be established in every Union Council across Pakistan within the next two and a half years. He outlined NADRA’s phased plan, aiming to set up centers in 1150 Union Councils within ten months.
Meanwhile, Leader of the House Ishaq Dar addressed concerns regarding privatization processes, assuring transparency and adherence to due process. He urged against politicizing privatization matters. Dar proposed the formation of a special committee to investigate the reasons behind the failure to privatize Pakistan Steel Mills, which has incurred significant financial losses amounting to hundreds of billions of rupees.
