ISLAMABAD (PEN) : An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday decided to formally charge Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case filed against him at I-9 police station in Islamabad,
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra presided over the hearing where Gandapur appeared alongside his lawyer. During the session, copies of the charge sheet (challan) were provided to Gandapur and other suspects. They have been instructed to ensure their presence at the next hearing scheduled for July 29, where they will be formally indicted.
Earlier on Friday, the ATC had withdrawn arrest warrants issued against Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with a case involving violent protests and violation of Section 144. The court entertained a plea to suspend these warrants, which Gandapur complied with by surrendering before the court. He cited official commitments as the reason for his delayed appearance.
Ali Amin Gandapur, a leader of the PTI and currently serving as KP CM, faces multiple legal challenges stemming from various incidents, including events following the arrest of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan last year at the Islamabad High Court.
