ISLAMABAD (PEN) : A federal minister has disclosed ongoing informal discussions with the founder of PTI, indicating progress in these talks.
Maritime Affairs Minister Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh from the PML-N government emphasized the need for dialogue, stating, “The country belongs to everyone, and each side must show flexibility.” He stressed that dialogue is essential and that both parties need to engage in discussions.
Shaikh highlighted the necessity for the PTI founder’s participation in these talks, noting, “There is no alternative to dialogue.” He underscored that imposing preconditions before dialogue begins is not a practice accepted globally, questioning the purpose of discussing terms beforehand.
Regarding the government’s decision on sugar exports, the minister mentioned that conditional approval has been granted considering past experiences. He explained that the cabinet has set conditions, including suspending sugar exports if prices increase by two rupees. Additionally, a committee has been formed to monitor sugar prices, as decided by the federal cabinet.
