ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Prof. Ahsan Iqbal met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong to discuss the progress and future plans under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Phase 2. The minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to timely CPEC project implementation, particularly the operationalization of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to attract Chinese investment. He will visit China to attend a high-level forum and follow up on recent agreements made during the Prime Minister’s visit to China, focusing on projects like agriculture scholarships, IT training, ML-1 railway, and the Karakoram Highway Phase 2. Both sides emphasized their commitment to enhancing their strategic partnership, with China supporting Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts. The minister’s six-day visit aims to consult with Chinese leaders and businessmen to review CPEC progress.
