ISLAMABAD (PEN) : On Friday night, torrential rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms battered parts of Sindh, flooding low-lying areas and severely disrupting daily life. Heavy downpours hit Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Bhit Shah, and surrounding regions, causing significant traffic disruptions and widespread power outages. In Hyderabad alone, 130 feeders tripped, plunging much of the city into darkness.
Rainwater inundated homes in low-lying areas and submerged roads, further complicating the situation for residents. This deluge comes as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecasted rain across the country from July 16 to 21, with moderate monsoon currents expected from the Arabian Sea.
The Met Office has predicted that all four provinces, as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), will experience new spells of rain, wind, and thunderstorms.
Rain and thunderstorms from July 17 to 20 in various cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.
