ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In a heartbreaking incident, a man in Allah Dad Chand Goth, Hyderabad, died after a five-day electricity outage caused by a malfunctioning transformer. The power cut has left the community struggling, especially during a severe heatwave.
Residents, grappling with the extreme conditions, have been unable to access water to properly bathe the deceased, forcing them to buy water for the ritual washing. Despite having paid their electricity bills in full, they have been left without power.
The locals allege that HESCO (Hyderabad Electric Supply Company) has demanded 60,000 rupees for repairing the transformer. Even after the amount was raised and paid, the transformer remains unfixed.
This tragedy underscores a dire need for improvements in infrastructure and greater accountability in utility services. It serves as a painful reminder of how critical reliable electricity is, and the devastating impact its absence can have on people’s lives.
