ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali led Pakistan to a convincing nine-wicket victory over Nepal in the ACC Women’s Asia Cup 2024, held at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 109 runs, Pakistan chased down the total in just 11.5 overs, losing only one wicket in the process.
Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali provided a strong start, accumulating 52 runs within the first six overs. They continued their aggressive play, reaching 92 runs by the halfway point, firmly on track for a comfortable win.
Feroza contributed 57 runs off 35 balls, including ten boundaries, before falling just five runs short of the target. Muneeba Ali then sealed the victory with a boundary, finishing unbeaten on 46 from 34 balls, including eight boundaries.
Nepal’s bowlers struggled throughout the innings, conceding boundaries consistently, with Kabita Joshi taking the only wicket for Nepal.
Earlier, Pakistan’s captain Nida Dar won the toss and chose to bowl. Her decision paid off as Fatima Sana dismissed Samjhana Khadka in the first over, and Sadia Iqbal removed Kabita Kunwar and Indu Barma, leaving Nepal at 30-3 within five overs.
Sita Rana Magar and Puja Mahato added some resistance, with Magar scoring 26 off 30 balls before being run out, and Mahato contributing 25 runs from 32 balls. Kabita Joshi scored an unbeaten 31 off 23 balls, including four boundaries and a six, helping Nepal reach a total of 108-6 in their 20 overs.
For Pakistan, Sadia Iqbal took two wickets, while Fatima Sana claimed one.
