ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister, has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) with a plea concerning his potential detention by the Army in relation to the May 9 cases.
In his application, filed through his lawyer Aziz Karamat, Khan has named the federal government and the inspector generals of all four provinces as respondents. He argues that there is a significant risk of being handed over to the Army in connection with these cases.
Khan is requesting the court to ensure that any detention related to the May 9 cases be handled by civilian courts, and to issue a ruling against any possible detention by the Army.
Although Khan has been acquitted in the cipher, Toshakhana, and iddat nikkah cases, he remains detained in connection with new Toshakhana charges and the May 9 incidents.
