ISLAMABAD (PEN) : During a “Meet the Press” event at the Karachi Press Club, Chinese Consul General Yang Yundong emphasized the commitment of Pakistan to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and projects in the country. He highlighted the deepening China-Pakistan cooperation, particularly in the context of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to China. The two nations confirmed their “zero tolerance” for terrorism and agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership across various sectors, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which will focus on upgrading infrastructure and promoting industrial cooperation. Yang also stressed the importance of Gwadar Port and other key projects under CPEC, while expressing China’s support for Pakistan’s socio-economic development and sovereignty. He called for a joint effort to maintain regional peace and stability and to resist global unilateralism and protectionism.
