ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In their Davis Cup World Group II match, Pakistan was defeated by Barbados with a final score of 3-1.
On the second day of the tie, Pakistan lost both the doubles match and the first reverse singles, which sealed the victory for Barbados.
In the doubles match, Pakistan’s Aisam-ul-Haq and Aqeel Khan battled hard but were ultimately defeated by the Barbadian pair, Darian King and Haydn Lewis. The match ended with a score of 7-6, 6-7, 6-2, as King and Lewis secured the final set to clinch the win.
Later, in the first reverse singles, Yousaf Khalil of Pakistan faced Darian King, who dominated the match with a straight-sets victory of 6-3, 6-0. This win gave Barbados an insurmountable lead.
With this loss, Pakistan will now move on to the Group II play-offs, where they will compete to retain their place in the competition.
The World Group II comprises 12 ties, with the losing teams from the World Group I play-offs and the winning teams from the World Group II play-offs facing each other based on their rankings.
