ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The traffic police in Punjab have stepped up efforts to enhance road safety by increasing fines for motorcycle riders who are not wearing helmets. In a move to protect riders, all districts have mandated helmet use, and access for those without helmets has been restricted in several major areas.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Amara Athar announced the creation of special checkpoints on busy roads, including Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Canal Road, and Main Boulevard. Additional checkpoints will be set up at Shanu Baba Chowk, Lake City, Adda Plot, and Abdul Sattar Edhi Road, where wardens will be stationed at key entry and exit points to ensure compliance.
To further promote safety, fines will also be imposed for riders who place helmets on their motorcycle tanks or wear them incorrectly. This initiative reflects a strong commitment to reducing accidents and protecting lives on the roads, emphasizing the importance of safety for all.
