ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced a significant discovery of hydrocarbon reserves at the Akhiro-1 well in the Lower Gour B Reservoir Sand, located in the Khairpur district of Sindh Province.
This exciting development was shared with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in a notice on Wednesday. The Sawan South Joint Venture, which includes OGDCL with a 20% working interest, is led by United Energy Pakistan Limited (UEPL) as the operator with a 75% stake, while both the Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) and Sindh Energy Holding Limited (SEHL) hold 2.5% each.
Drilling at the well began on June 15, 2024, reaching a depth of 12,442 feet. The well has been successfully tested, yielding approximately 10 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of gas at a choke size of 24/64” and a Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 4000 Pounds per Square Inch (Psig).
This discovery is a positive step toward enhancing the country’s energy security through local resources and will contribute to the growth of hydrocarbon reserves. It is part of an ongoing commitment to explore and assess further hydrocarbon potential in the Sawan South Block, reflecting OGDCL’s dedication to securing energy for the future.
