ISLAMABAD (PEN) : On Saturday, Pakistan’s star boxer Muhammad Waseem achieved another milestone by knocking out Georgian boxer Jaba Memishishi in the World Bodybuilding Federation (WBF) Bantamweight ranking bout in Malta.
The 34-year-old fighter delivered a stunning performance, finishing his opponent in the third round. This victory marks Waseem’s 13th professional win, with an impressive nine of those coming by knockout. His current record stands at 13 wins and 2 losses from a total of 15 bouts.
Waseem’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Recently, he faced disappointment when his visa application for Denmark was rejected. In an interview with a local news channel, the two-time WBC silver champion shared his frustration, saying, “I have been a world champion twice, and they rejected my visa, claiming I would disappear if I went there. I travel all over the world and was training with my coaches in London. I needed to arrive in Malta early to prepare for the upcoming world title fight.”
Earlier in August, Waseem expressed optimism about his chances against his opponent, Sabelo, and he delivered on that promise. He remarked, “I am hopeful for success against my opponent. The world title fight is very important to me, and I do not want to miss this opportunity.” Waseem has also reached out to the Pakistani government, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and the army chief, seeking their support in securing his visa for future competitions. His determination to represent Pakistan and succeed on the international stage shines through despite the hurdles he faces.
