ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan is gearing up to host the Cross Country Athletics Championship for the first time this November, marking a significant milestone for the country.
Chairman of South Asia Athletics, Major Gen (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, announced that the championship is scheduled for November 24. While the exact venue is yet to be revealed, it’s expected to be announced soon. The government has already granted the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the event, paving the way for its successful organization.
Sahi mentioned that the championship will feature two men’s categories: the senior competition and an under-20 competition, providing opportunities for athletes at different stages in their careers.
A total of seven nations will participate in this exciting event, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Bhutan. This championship not only showcases athletic talent but also strengthens regional ties through sports, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition among the participating nations.
