CHINIOT (PEN) : Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that there should be combat between the provinces that reflects non-political thinking.
Speaking to the media in Chiniot, he noted that out of 56 clauses in a proposed amendment, only 22 remain, with 5 new additions. He asserted his position in the opposition and stated he had no intention of joining the government.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also expressed firm opposition to the 27th constitutional amendment.
Commenting on broader political dynamics, he clarified that JUI-F opposes revenge-driven politics and cases targeting politicians. “We believe in political freedom and do not support restrictions on protests,” he said.
He congratulated the new Chief Justice and prayed for the work of outgoing CJP Qazi Faez Isa, and expressed hope for progress. He said that Parliament’s active role would help reduce controversies surrounding the judiciary.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman highlighted the importance of increasing resources to address public issues. Regarding the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, he cited the efforts to engage opposing sides.
The governments should avoid protests and disruption, he said, urging a return to democratic processes through re-elections if necessary.
