ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband, Abdul Hadi, have been arrested in Islamabad, according to police sources on Monday.
The couple was taken into custody in connection with a case registered at Aapbara Police Station, relating to interference in government operations. This development comes just days after they were involved in an altercation with traffic police while trying to navigate around roadblocks set up for the visiting England cricket team.
The incident occurred at the Zero Point Interchange in the morning, as the teams were being transported to the stadium for a three-match Test series, with the final match held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Sources indicate that during the confrontation, Hadi confronted the police aggressively, using abusive language and issuing threats. Imaan, the daughter of former federal minister Shireen Mazari, claimed they were in a hurry to reach court. However, police stated that the couple had violated standard operating procedures meant to ensure the smooth passage of state guests and warned of potential legal consequences.
