ISLAMABAD (PEN) : At the COP29 climate summit in Baku, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured China’s Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang of Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and securing Chinese nationals, following recent targeted attacks on Chinese citizens in Pakistan, especially those involved in CPEC projects. The attacks, including a suicide bombing in Karachi last month that killed two Chinese engineers, have heightened China’s concerns, prompting it to request its own security personnel for Chinese workers. Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s determination to eliminate terrorism and reaffirmed the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China. Both nations are exploring a joint security management system to address safety concerns.
