ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Following the controversy surrounding her video statement, Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, now finds herself embroiled in growing legal challenges. Separate cases have been filed against her in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur under the Telegraph Act of 1885.
One of the cases was registered at the Jamal Khan Police Station in Dera Ghazi Khan after a man named Ghulam Yaseen filed a complaint. In the First Information Report (FIR), Yaseen argued that Bushra Bibi’s remarks on a private channel appeared to be part of a calculated conspiracy designed to harm Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia. He claimed that her statement deeply offended the sentiments of the Pakistani people, suggesting it was part of a deliberate plot to create discord, and called for legal action to be taken against her. The case reflects not just legal concerns, but the emotional and nationalistic tensions that have arisen over the issue.
