ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted cold and dry weather for most parts of the country over the next 24 hours. However, some regions may experience cloudy conditions, with light rain, wind, and thunderstorms — along with light snowfall in the mountains. This is expected in isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, the Potohar region, and Kashmir.
In the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh, fog and smog are likely to blanket the area during the morning and night hours, making visibility low and the air feel heavier.
The current weather patterns are influenced by continental air, which is covering much of the country. A shallow westerly wave is expected to move into the northern regions, bringing some change in the weather from today.
In the past few hours, dry weather has prevailed across most of the country, with the chill in the hilly areas making it feel even colder. Smog and fog have been lingering in patches over the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh, causing some discomfort.
Leh, in particular, has been the coldest place in the country, where temperatures dropped to a bone-chilling -6°C on Friday, highlighting just how severe the winter chill can be in certain areas.
