ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In a heartfelt effort to solidify peace in the region, the decision was made to establish committees representing both sides of the conflict to ensure the Kurram peace agreement is properly implemented. This decision was reached during a peace jirga held on Friday in Kurram district, bringing together tribal elders, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Chaudhry Nadeem Aslam, Kohat Commissioner, and various government officials.
The jirga emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the peace agreement and called for committees from both sides to oversee its progress. The date for the next jirga will be decided after discussions between both parties.
Tribal elders spoke candidly about the deep-rooted divisions that have plagued the region, acknowledging the long-standing hatred that has divided the people. They stressed that these divisions are a departure from the teachings of Islam, which advocate for unity and peace.
Chief Secretary Chaudhry Nadeem Aslam reminded all parties that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility between the government and the tribal leaders. He expressed support for the people of Kurram, announcing the approval of a relief package to help the region, and made it clear that any efforts to disrupt peace would be met with strict legal action.
Aslam also reflected on the broader impact of peace, urging both sides to work together with the government to restore stability in the region. While the option for a military operation remained on the table, he cautioned that such a step would have far-reaching consequences for everyone involved. His message was clear: peace benefits all, and the collective effort to achieve it will shape the future of the region. https://dunyanews.tv/en/Pakistan/865822-committees-formed-to-ensure-implementation-of-kurram-peace-agreement
