ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday for a two-day official visit, where he was warmly received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
First Lady Aseefa Bhutto, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and other senior government officials welcomed the Turkish leader upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, President Erdogan was greeted with a 21-gun salute as his special aircraft entered Pakistani airspace, escorted by Pakistan Air Force jets. Children in traditional attire presented bouquets to the Turkish President and First Lady, while waving Turkish and Pakistani flags during the welcoming ceremony, which also featured a performance by the military band.
Erdogan’s visit focuses on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. His delegation includes ministers, senior officials, and business leaders.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan will jointly chair the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. The session is expected to conclude with the signing of a Joint Declaration and several key agreements and MoUs.
Additionally, President Erdogan will hold bilateral meetings with President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He will also co-chair the Pakistan-Türkiye Business and Investment Forum alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz, bringing together top investors, companies, and business leaders from both nations to explore investment opportunities.
