ISLAMABAD (PEN) : General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, was warmly welcomed upon his arrival in the United Kingdom for the start of his official visit. On the first day of the trip, he received a distinguished reception, which included a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the historic Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground. This was followed by the presence of a well-prepared contingent, marking the beginning of his participation in the 7th Regional Stabilization Conference at the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
The conference provides a key platform for meaningful Army-to-Army dialogue between Pakistan and the UK, and this year’s event is especially important given the rapidly changing global political environment. COAS Munir is set to deliver the keynote address, focusing on “The Emerging World Order and Pakistan’s Future Outlook,” offering valuable insights into the current geopolitical landscape.
During his visit, the COAS will engage in significant discussions with senior UK officials, both military and civilian, to deepen cooperation and share perspectives on a range of shared issues. His meetings will include conversations with Admiral Tony Radikin, Chief of the UK Defence Staff, General Sir Roland Walker, Chief of the British Army, and Jonathan Powell, the UK National Security Advisor. Additionally, COAS Munir will meet with Ms. Yvette Cooper, the UK Home Secretary, to address common challenges and emphasize the importance of strengthening ties.
This visit highlights the strong and enduring relationship between Pakistan and the UK, which has been built on a foundation of mutual respect and cooperation. Over the years, the two nations have worked together closely, particularly in areas like counterterrorism and professional military training. As part of his trip, the COAS will also visit key British Army units, such as the Land Warfare Centre and the 1st Strike Brigade, where he will learn more about the UK’s modernisation efforts and operational strategies.
Ultimately, the visit underscores the commitment of both countries to regional stability and global peace, strengthening the partnership between the two nations for the future.
