ISLAMABAD (PEN) : China’s electric vehicles are around three to five years ahead of the competition when it comes to product development, technology, and the overall industrial chain, according to BYD’s CEO Wang Chuanfu. He shared this insight in a recent interview with China’s national television broadcaster, following a symposium with Chinese President Xi Jinping and leading figures from the country’s technology sector. Wang was among the business leaders who spoke at the event.
In 2023, China overtook Japan to become the world’s largest auto exporter, although its electric vehicle (EV) exports face challenges, including tariffs from the United States and the European Union. The EU, for example, has imposed a 17% tariff on BYD’s electric vehicles. Despite these hurdles, Wang expressed confidence that protectionism is not the answer for high-quality products, noting that consumer approval is what truly drives their success.
Wang’s comments highlight the resilience of China’s EV industry, driven by innovation and a commitment to overcoming obstacles in the global market. His words reflect the growing global influence of companies like BYD, which continues to lead the way in EV technology.
BYD (Build Your Dreams) is a Chinese multinational powerhouse renowned for its contributions to the electric vehicle market.
