ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In a significant overseas visit, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir traveled to Warminster and Larkhill Garrisons in the United Kingdom, upon the invitation of General Roland Walker, the Chief of the General Staff of the British Army.
The visit focused on gaining insight into the modernization initiatives of the British Army, as well as an in-depth look at the Deep Recce Strike Brigade. During the tour, the British Army also highlighted cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and uncrewed systems, showcasing their integration into military operations.
Earlier this week, General Munir was warmly received upon his arrival in the UK for an official visit, marking the start of an important diplomatic engagement. The day began with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the historic Royal Horse Guards Parade Ground, where the Pakistani COAS was greeted with dignity and respect by a meticulously dressed contingent. This ceremonial gesture underscored the strength and warmth of the bilateral military relationship between Pakistan and the UK.
In addition to his military engagements, General Munir is set to deliver a keynote speech on “The Emerging World Order and Pakistan’s Future Outlook” at the 7th Regional Stabilization Conference held at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. This conference plays a crucial role in Army-to-Army dialogue, where military leaders from both countries engage in meaningful discussions to strengthen cooperation and collaboration. This annual event brings together policymakers from both the civilian and military sectors, as well as think tank experts, to explore vital issues affecting global security and bilateral relations.
The 2025 conference comes at a time when global geopolitics is shifting rapidly, and the discussions are expected to provide valuable insights into how Pakistan and the UK can navigate these changes together. The evolving landscape presents both challenges and opportunities for the two nations, and the conference serves as an important platform for exchanging perspectives and charting pathways for closer cooperation.
For General Munir, this visit is not just about strengthening ties with the UK, but also about ensuring Pakistan’s military is aligned with the changing nature of warfare and security. By engaging with the British Army’s modernization efforts, Pakistan stands to gain crucial knowledge and experience that will shape the future of its own defense strategies.
This exchange of ideas is an essential step toward deepening bilateral military relations between the two countries and ensuring they are well-prepared to face the complexities of the emerging global order.
