ISLAMABAD (PEN) : To ensure smooth traffic flow during the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy cricket matches from February 23 to 27 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the City Traffic Police Rawalpindi has announced a comprehensive traffic plan.
In preparation for the arrival and departure of the cricket teams, key routes around the stadium will see significant changes. Murree Road will be completely closed from Faizabad to Double Road Turn during these times, affecting traffic heading to and from the stadium. Vehicles traveling from Islamabad will be diverted via the Expressway, while drivers coming from Rawalpindi heading to Islamabad will be redirected through Chandni Chowk, Rehmanabad, and 6th Road, using Saidpur Road.
In addition to Murree Road, Stadium Road will also be closed from 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road Turn to facilitate the smooth movement of traffic during the event. Motorists coming from Islamabad’s 9th Avenue will be rerouted via the Expressway and IJP Road, entering Rawalpindi through Pandora Chowk, Katarian, Carriage Factory, and Pirwadhai Mor.
The traffic police have advised all commuters to follow the designated routes and be aware of the altered traffic patterns to avoid inconvenience during the tournament days. This planned diversion aims to ensure minimal disruption and facilitate the seamless movement of cricket fans and officials throughout the high-profile event.
