ISLAMABAD (PEN) : In a recent decision, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department has imposed a ban on all educational field trips and picnics for government school students, as reported by ARY News on Friday. This move, outlined in a notification issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, prohibits school authorities across the province from organizing such activities.
The notification, circulated to all District Education Officers (DEOs) and merged districts, emphasizes that no educational tours, field trips, or picnics are to be arranged for students at government schools. DEOs have been instructed to ensure strict enforcement of the ban, with immediate effect.
This decision reflects the government’s desire to prioritize educational activities in the classroom and limit distractions. While field trips have long been viewed as opportunities for students to explore learning beyond textbooks, the ban may be part of an effort to streamline education and address logistical or financial challenges.
*Addressing Students’ Health: Ban on Junk Food Near Schools*
In another measure aimed at protecting students’ well-being, the district administration in Peshawar has imposed Section 144 to prevent the sale of junk food within a 150-meter radius of schools. The decision came in response to growing concerns over student health, particularly regarding the consumption of unhealthy food items.
By limiting the availability of junk food near schools, the authorities are taking proactive steps to promote healthier eating habits among children. The ban, which will remain in effect for 30 days, also includes a stern warning that legal action will be taken against vendors selling substandard food, such as chips and sugary snacks.
Both of these measures reflect the government’s commitment to improving student health and focusing on their education. While the ban on picnics may seem restrictive, it could ultimately help ensure that students remain focused on their academic goals, while the junk food ban is a step toward a healthier environment for students to thrive in.
