ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched an official inquiry against model and actress Nadia Hussain under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) after she made public accusations of bribery against an FIA officer on social media.
Allegations and Response
Nadia Hussain claimed on her social media platforms that an FIA official had demanded a bribe. However, FIA officials clarified that the person involved in the alleged bribery was not an officer but rather an imposter using a fake display picture. According to sources, Nadia was informed about the impersonation but chose to make her allegations public rather than filing a formal complaint with the Cyber Crime Reporting Center in Karachi.
The individual posing as an FIA officer was traced to Vehari and is expected to be arrested soon. Despite receiving this clarification, Nadia Hussain continued to make accusations without providing evidence, which, according to FIA officials, has caused damage to the agency’s reputation.
Legal Consequences
The FIA has emphasized the legal implications of making false accusations, stating that it is a criminal offense to spread unverified claims. As a result, the agency has initiated a formal investigation into the matter, which is now underway.
This case highlights the increasing role of social media in legal and public affairs and the importance of verifying information before making public accusations.
