ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Actress and model Nadia Hussain has issued a public apology to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after making accusations against one of its officers. In her statement, Hussain clarified that her intentions were never to tarnish the agency’s reputation but to report a fraudster who was allegedly exploiting the name of a senior FIA official to extort money.
Clarification and Apology
Speaking to the media after recording her statement with the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing, Hussain explained the reason behind her viral video, in which she had alleged that an FIA officer demanded a bribe after her husband’s arrest in a bank fraud case. She emphasized that the situation was far more complex and that her primary concern was a scammer misusing an FIA officer’s name.
“I never intended to hurt anyone’s feelings, and I sincerely apologize if my statement offended any FIA officer,” Hussain said. “However, I firmly stand by my complaint and urge the authorities to take strict action against the fraudster,” she added.
Hussain further expressed the severity of the issue, highlighting that the scammer’s actions were not only fraudulent but harmful to ordinary citizens. “Such fraudulent calls double the suffering of ordinary people. The authorities must take action to prevent such scams,” she stated.
FIA Action and Investigation
Following Hussain’s claims, the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing initiated a probe into the allegations. The agency also sought court approval to conduct a forensic examination of Hussain’s mobile phone, which has since been taken into custody. The FIA confirmed that Hussain had provided evidence via their online portal and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The FIA also summoned Hussain for further questioning, assuring that legal proceedings would continue based on the forensic results and available evidence. Hussain, for her part, reiterated her commitment to helping bring the fraudsters to justice.
Call for Stronger Measures
Despite the controversy, Hussain emphasized the need for swift and decisive action against those perpetrating scams. “I want to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I urge the FIA to take swift action to prevent innocent people from falling victim to these kinds of frauds,” she concluded.
The investigation continues as the FIA works to uncover the full details of the scam and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
