ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Naseer Soomro, recognized as one of the tallest men in the world, passed away on Monday at the age of 55 in his hometown of Shikarpur, Sindh. His brother, Riaz Soomro, confirmed the tragic news, stating that Naseer had been battling a lung disease for several months and had been receiving treatment at home.
A Life Marked by Extraordinary Height
Standing at an impressive 7 feet 9 inches, Naseer Soomro earned international attention for his towering stature. His height not only made him a well-known figure in Pakistan but also attracted global recognition. His unique physicality led to an employment opportunity with Pakistan’s national airline, where his extraordinary height became a defining characteristic.
Political and Public Tributes
Following his passing, condolences poured in from across the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his sorrow, praying for the soul of the late Naseer Soomro and offering strength to his family during this difficult time. “In this moment of grief, the entire nation stands in solidarity with Naseer Soomro’s family. May Allah grant patience to the family of the late Naseer Soomro. Ameen,” said the Prime Minister.
The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with Governor Kamran Tessori, also expressed their grief over the loss. Political leaders and elected representatives from Shikarpur have also joined in offering their condolences.
Funeral Arrangements
The funeral prayers for Naseer Soomro will be held today (Tuesday) in Shah Muhala, Shikarpur, where his family and the community will come together to pay their respects.
