ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized the pivotal role of technology and modern education in driving development, especially in today’s digital learning environment. In a message on Digital Learning Day, she underscored the importance of aligning Punjab’s youth with the demands of the evolving global economy.
Focus on Digital Learning and Smart Classrooms
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz pointed out that the provincial government is committed to providing opportunities for students to excel in the modern world. To support this, the government is establishing smart classrooms and digital labs across government schools, transforming the traditional education system into one that incorporates advanced technology for a more engaging and effective learning experience.
“The future of development is closely tied to embracing technology and modern education,” the chief minister stated. She further noted that the government’s initiatives are designed to ensure that youth in Punjab are equipped with the skills needed to succeed in the digital age.
Revolutionizing Education with the CM Laptop Scheme
One of the key programs introduced by the government is the CM Laptop Scheme, which aims to provide students with the tools they need for success in the digital era. Maryam Nawaz expressed confidence that the scheme will be a game-changer for students, offering them access to the technology required for their academic and professional growth.

Through these courses, students are gaining certifications that align with the needs of global employers.
Nawaz Sharif IT City: A Hub for IT Education and Employment
Another milestone in Punjab’s digital transformation is the development of Pakistan’s first “Nawaz Sharif IT City” in Lahore. The project, which will feature twin towers, is expected to be completed this year. The city will serve as a hub for IT education and job creation, providing ample opportunities for the youth to enter the technology sector.
Furthermore, the development of a plug-and-play call center hub in Nawaz Sharif IT City is set to provide employment opportunities for skilled workers. The chief minister revealed that global information technology universities have expressed interest in establishing campuses within the IT city, further enhancing the region’s educational landscape.
