ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a generous cash reward of ₹58 crore for the Indian cricket team following their victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, clinched their third Champions Trophy title with a thrilling four-wicket win over New Zealand in the final, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 9.
This victory marks India’s first Champions Trophy title since 2013, adding to their earlier triumphs in 2002 (shared with Sri Lanka) and 2013. The Indian team’s achievement also follows a stellar start to the year, with India winning the U19 Women’s World Cup 2025.
BCCI Celebrates the Team’s Achievement
BCCI President Roger Binny praised the team’s remarkable performance, emphasizing the significance of winning back-to-back ICC titles. “This victory is a testament to Team India’s excellence on the global stage,” Binny said. “The cash reward is a recognition of the players’ hard work, dedication, and the support of the entire backroom staff.”
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla also commended the team’s composure throughout the tournament, remarking, “The players exhibited incredible resilience under pressure, and their success serves as an inspiration for young cricketers across India.”
India’s Road to Glory
India’s journey to the Champions Trophy title was characterized by dominant performances. They began their campaign with a convincing six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, bolstered by Shubman Gill’s century. India continued their winning streak with another six-wicket triumph over Pakistan, thanks to Virat Kohli’s 51st ODI century, which guided India to chase down 242 with ease.
In their final group match, India secured a vital victory over New Zealand, propelled by a five-wicket haul from Varun Chakravarthy and a solid 79 from Shreyas Iyer, which ensured they topped the group. Their semi-final clash against Australia saw a brilliant knock of 84 runs from Kohli, helping India reach the final for the third consecutive edition.
