ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Aamir Khan’s family has officially voiced their support for the actor’s relationship with Gauri Spratt, following his public acknowledgment of their romance earlier this month. The Bollywood superstar’s sister, Nikhat Hegde, expressed her joy for the couple, highlighting the family’s wholehearted backing.
Family’s Warm Wishes for Aamir and Gauri
During the trailer launch of her upcoming Malayalam film L2: Empuraan in Mumbai, Nikhat shared her thoughts on Aamir’s relationship with Gauri. She revealed that the Khan family is thrilled for both Aamir and Gauri, describing Gauri as a “wonderful human being.” Nikhat stated, “Hum log bohot khush hain Aamir ke liye aur Gauri ke liye bhi kyunki woh bohot hi achi insaan hain, aur hum bohot chahte hain ke ye log dono khush rahein hamesha hamesha” (We are very happy for Aamir and Gauri because she is a wonderful person, and we wish them eternal happiness).
Aamir Khan’s Public Acknowledgment
Aamir Khan, who celebrated his 60th birthday earlier this month, made his relationship with Gauri public during a press event held just before his birthday. The actor revealed that he and Gauri had been together for a year and a half, though their bond spans 25 years. Gauri, who lives in Bengaluru, is currently working under Aamir’s production banner.
Nikhat’s Role in L2: Empuraan and Director’s Surprise
At the L2: Empuraan trailer launch, director Prithviraj Sukumaran shared an interesting anecdote about Nikhat’s casting in the film. He revealed that he had no knowledge of her connection to Aamir Khan when he selected her for the role. “I did not know she was Aamir sir’s sister. When the audition tapes came through, I told Priyatama, my casting director, that ‘I want her.’ She said, ‘Oh yeah, she’s wonderful. By the way, she’s also Aamir sir’s sister.’ I was surprised,” said Sukumaran.
The director also shared a lighthearted interaction with Aamir after the casting. Aamir had reportedly sent a message asking about his sister’s performance in the film, to which Sukumaran enthusiastically replied, “Sir, she’s a lot better than good.”
L2: Empuraan Sequel Set for Release
The much-anticipated trailer for L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the hit film Lucifer, was released on March 20. The film is set to hit theaters on March 27, 2025, generating significant excitement among fans and moviegoers.
