ISLAMABAD (PEN) : As the holy month of Ramadan nears its conclusion, mosques across Pakistan have finalized arrangements for those observing Aitkaf, a spiritual retreat practiced during the last ten days of the month. The observance, which involves secluding oneself in the mosque for prayer and reflection, is set to take place in various mosques nationwide, with significant preparations underway in key locations such as Lahore and Islamabad.
Aitkaf at Data Darbar in Lahore
The Punjab Auqaf Department has made public the names of individuals who will observe Aitkaf at the iconic Data Darbar mosque in Lahore. The final list, which includes 1,600 participants, has been vetted by the Special Branch. Sheikh Jameel, the administrator of the shrine, confirmed that the names of the participants were prominently displayed on the shrine premises for transparency.
Special arrangements have been made at the mosque, with four designated sectors, each containing 102 cabins, to accommodate the faithful during their period of spiritual seclusion. These measures aim to ensure comfort and privacy for the Aitkaf observers while maintaining the sanctity of the environment.
Other Mosques in Lahore and Islamabad
In addition to Data Darbar, other mosques across Lahore have also made arrangements for Aitkaf, with special prayers and dedicated spaces set aside for participants. The mosque administrations have been working diligently to ensure a smooth and peaceful observance for all attendees.
In Islamabad, preparations are similarly underway, with Faisal Mosque among the key locations welcoming Aitkaf observers. The mosque is expected to host more than 600 participants this year, continuing its tradition of offering this spiritual experience to the public. Notably, Faisal Mosque administration has announced that, as in previous years, no fees will be charged for participation in Aitkaf.
