ISLAMABAD (PEN) : A Lahore court has canceled the arrest warrant for actress Nazish Jahangir following her appearance in court and the submission of surety bonds worth Rs 50,000.
Court Proceedings and Case Background
The case, which had been filed by a resident of Defence Housing Authority (DHA), was heard by Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Shabir Syal. The complainant accused Jahangir and co-accused Sikandar Khan of defrauding him of Rs 2.5 million and a vehicle. He further alleged that they had issued threats as part of the alleged scam.
Earlier, the court had issued an arrest warrant for Jahangir and directed the police to present her before the court on March 22. However, after appearing in court and submitting the required surety bonds, Jahangir’s legal team successfully had the warrant revoked.
Actress’ Response to Allegations
Jahangir, who has publicly denied the allegations, described the case as a “flop blackmail show” aimed at damaging her reputation. Speaking on a television show, she called the situation a “well-orchestrated scheme,” claiming that the individuals involved were trying to extort money from her by using fraudulent tactics.
“This is a deliberate attempt to blackmail and tarnish the image of privileged individuals like us,” she said, further asserting that the accusations were baseless and motivated by personal gain.
Legal Strategy and Future Proceedings
Following her appearance in court, Jahangir’s legal representatives maintained that they would contest the case and continue to refute the claims against her. They insisted that the allegations were fabricated and without merit, emphasizing that the actress would take the necessary legal steps to clear her name.
The case remains ongoing, and future hearings will determine the progression of the legal matter as both sides prepare for the next phase.
