ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to revise their upcoming bilateral series, dropping the scheduled One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in favor of an expanded T20I series. The decision comes as both cricket boards look to prepare for the forthcoming T20 World Cup.
Initially, Bangladesh was set to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Pakistan. However, following discussions between the two teams, the ODIs have been removed from the itinerary, and the series will now consist of five T20 matches instead.
This change reflects a shift in focus towards the T20 format, aligning with both teams’ preparation for the global T20 competition later this year. According to sources, this adjustment also suggests the possibility of an additional T20I series between the two nations later in the year. Pakistan may visit Bangladesh for a three-match T20 series scheduled for July.
This shift in scheduling marks a significant change in the cricketing calendar, and both boards have expressed their commitment to enhancing the T20 format’s presence in the international arena.
