ISLAMABAD (PEN) : New Zealand has revealed its squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, with Tom Latham named as the captain. The lineup includes the notable addition of Pakistan-born cricketer Mohammad Abbas, who has made a mark in New Zealand’s cricketing scene.
Abbas, who moved to New Zealand with his family from Pakistan, has earned his place in the squad ahead of the three-match series. He is the son of Azhar Abbas, a former Pakistani first-class cricketer and current assistant coach for the Wellington Firebirds. His inclusion marks a significant step in his international career with New Zealand.
The squad also features Adithya Ashok, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, Mitchell Hay, and Will Young, among others. However, several key players will miss the series due to their commitments in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips are all unavailable for selection during the series.
The ODI series between New Zealand and Pakistan will kick off on March 29, with the following matches scheduled for April 2 and April 5. This series will be a crucial opportunity for both teams as they continue to build momentum ahead of future international competitions.
