ISLAMABAD (PEN) : A solemn funeral prayer for the late mother of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir was held today at the Race Course Ground in Rawalpindi. The prayer was led by General Asim Munir himself, with a large gathering of political and military leaders in attendance.
Prominent Leaders and Officials Attend the Funeral Prayer
The funeral prayer was attended by a range of prominent political and military figures, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also participated in the ceremony.
In addition to government officials, several high-ranking military leaders were present, including former army chiefs General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa and General (retd) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq were among other notables who paid their respects.

In their messages of condolence, President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their deep sorrow over the loss of General Munir’s mother, offering prayers for the departed soul and extending support to the grieving family.
President Zardari conveyed his heartfelt sympathy, stating that he shared the grief of General Munir and his family during this difficult time. Similarly, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi prayed for the deceased’s elevated rank in the hereafter and for patience for the bereaved family.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, also expressed profound sadness, praying for divine mercy on the departed soul and strength for the mourning family.
