ISLAMABAD (PEN) : The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting intermittent rain, thunderstorms, windstorms, and snowfall over high-altitude areas in the coming 24 hours. Several regions across the country are expected to experience varying weather conditions.
Widespread Rain Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir
The forecast highlights that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are likely to experience widespread rainfall. Upper Punjab, Islamabad, and northeastern Balochistan will also receive showers. In particular, heavy rainfall and hailstorms are anticipated in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, with possible disruptions in these regions due to intense weather conditions.
Specific Weather Predictions for Major Cities
In Islamabad, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, with a 55% chance of rain and thunderstorms. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s districts, including Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat, and Mansehra, will experience rain and thunderstorms, along with snowfall over higher mountain areas. Hailstorms are also predicted in the southern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Punjab will experience partly cloudy skies, with isolated thunderstorms and rain expected in cities such as Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, and Faisalabad. Meanwhile, Sindh will remain mostly dry, with gusty winds and partly cloudy conditions in the northern areas during the afternoon hours.
Weather Outlook for Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan
Balochistan will see dry to partly cloudy conditions, with possible rain and thunderstorms in Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, and other regions. In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, partly cloudy weather will persist, with rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall expected over the mountainous areas.
Previous Weather Conditions and Temperature Highlights
The last 24 hours saw dry conditions in most parts of the country, with only isolated rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Shaheed Benazirabad recorded the highest temperature in the country, reaching 42°C.
