ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has addressed the concerns raised by fans regarding the quality of Hindi commentary during the ongoing IPL 2025 season. The criticism stemmed from a fan’s comparison of the current commentary team to earlier seasons, where iconic commentators like Maninder Singh and Arun Lal were praised for providing insightful analysis.
Concerns Over Hindi Commentary
The fan feedback highlighted that the present Hindi commentary panel, which includes cricketing legends like Virender Sehwag, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Shikhar Dhawan, and Suresh Raina, among others, has been leaning heavily on sarcasm and one-liners. This approach, according to the fan, made it harder for viewers to engage with the game.
Addressing the feedback, Harbhajan, who is a part of the 2025 Hindi commentary team, took to social media to assure fans that their concerns were heard. He thanked the viewer for the constructive criticism and promised that efforts would be made to enhance the commentary experience. Harbhajan’s response was clear: “Thank you for the input. We will work on it.”
The Hindi Commentary Panel in IPL 2025
This season’s Hindi commentary panel is a star-studded lineup featuring notable former players such as Mohammad Kaif, Piyush Chawla, RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha, Sanjay Manjrekar, and Sanjay Bangar. Additional commentators include Varun Aaron, Sunil Gavaskar, Ajay Jadeja, Jatin Sapru, Anant Tyagi, Saba Karim, Deep Dasgupta, and Aakash Chopra.
The criticism of the commentary comes as the IPL 2025 season has begun with thrilling action, including 119 sixes hit in the first five matches. This high-scoring start to the season has energized fans and further underscored the importance of commentary that can keep pace with the game’s fast-moving action.
IPL Action Continues
In the most recent match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Punjab Kings (PBKS) clinched a dramatic 11-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT), defending their impressive total of 243/5. Punjab’s aggressive batting, led by captain Shreyas Iyer, and tactical decisions by head coach Ricky Ponting, played key roles in staving off Gujarat’s strong chase, despite a valiant effort from Shubman Gill’s team.
As the IPL moves forward, the next fixture sees Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), captained by Ajinkya Rahane, taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Guwahati at the Barsapara Stadium.
Harbhajan Singh’s commitment to improving the Hindi commentary experience, coupled with the ongoing excitement on the field, sets the stage for an even more captivating IPL 2025 season.
