ISLAMABAD (PEN) : Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court requesting an urgent hearing on her appeal to suspend her sentence in the £190 million case.
Request for Pre-Eid Hearing
In her petition, Bushra Bibi explained that the original hearing scheduled for March 25 was postponed due to her lead counsel’s engagement in a Supreme Court case. Additionally, the court’s short cause list resulted in further delays, pushing the hearing beyond the Eid holidays.
As a 54-year-old housewife, Bushra Bibi stressed that her request for a suspension of sentence should be urgently heard before Eid, alongside the main appeal in the case.
Legal Proceedings
The petition named the federal government and the Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as the respondents. It is now expected that the Islamabad High Court will consider the urgency of the matter, with the timing of the hearing impacting the progression of the case.
As the case continues, the legal community will closely monitor any developments related to this high-profile petition.
